Double Blessing

Saturday, 24 November 2012

As you may have read in my last couple of posts… I was really hoping to be able to replace my ailing phone with a smart phone with translation, dictionary and other capabilities. Well, God answered my request with much more than I ever expected!

Upon reading my request, one friend prayed that their family would win a drawing that they entered, with a grand prize of an iPad, so that they could send it to me… and God answered their prayer! And they sent me the iPad. And yet another friend is also being so generous in sending their iPhone to me :) For those of you relishing your new iPhone5… I feel the same way with an iPhone3! It will be awesome!

So, I’ve been figuring things out on the iPad and will soon have the iPhone in my pocket also and have my old cranky phone finally replaced and with a camera and voice recorder and who knows what else smart phones can do these days! Although my present phone doesn’t have a camera or much of anything else, one very cool feature that I’ll miss is the flashlight function it has! It is VERY handy when up north with the Karenni. Thankfully flashlights are cheap :)
God is so gracious and I’m so thankful for his blessings in so many things, even things that may seem so little like this.

I recently went up to be with the Karenni for a short time during a school break. I’ll write about that soon. I did write about it a bit, but that got lost in one of the many computer crashes of late. My computer has been out of action for a while and I’m trying to catch up on some things with the iPad, but I’m still on the upside of the learning curve. I never have been able to figure out Apple stuff well… even after using an Apple computer for a couple of years! Hopefully I’ll get better! And hopefully this latest shop will get my computer fixed! This is the 5th shop, dozens of hours in talking with, waiting for and watching “technicians”, at least 15 hours on the road to these shops, all sorts of headaches including lost data, lost programs, “lost” money, lost emails and even lost a blog post that I was writing to update here one of the many times my computer crashed….

All in all, I expect to be back to normal in a week or two. This computer saga really messed with me and my schedule also, trying to figure out how to get to what shop where between school and homework… The shop that finally seems to have figured it out took me almost 2 hours to get to the other day, and I had to make 2 trips to that place and then bring it to yet another shop in yet another part of Bangkok to do what they recommended, but couldn’t do themselves.

Onward ho! :)

That’s so awesome! Praise God! Does that mean you might be able to skype with your ipad? Happy belated Thanksgiving!

By the way there is an app for a flashlight so you don’t have to worry about loosing that feature. It would be hard to imagine your old phone having anything that the iPhone doesn’t… Good luck with Apple products and don’t come to me with any hope of much help with them ;-)
